Substrate preparation: The substrate to be waterproofed must be dry, loadbearing and flat with a surface free from cracks and ridges and adhesion inhibiting substances such as e.g. oil, grease, hoar frost or paint. Ensure masonry work is flush pointed. Repair existing gravel pockets, as well as the bay edge markers chopped out to 2 cm deep, with either ASOCRET-RN or alternatively an MGIII cement mortar modified with ASOPLAST-MZ. Edges are to be chamfered, corners to be rounded off. Product application: 1. Internal corners, wall/floor junctions: Apply a slurry coat of AQUAFIN-1K and whilst still wet construct a coved fillet of min. side length 4cm, with ASOCRET-RN or a cement mortar (MG III) modified with ASOPLAST-MZ. Once cured cover this area including the front edge of the base slab. 2. Priming: Prime the substrate with ASOL-FE, diluted up to a max. of 1:1 with water, dependent on the absorbency of the substrate. Allow the primer coat to dry before subsequent bonding stages with the cold applied self adhesive waterproof sheet membrane. To assess the bond to the dried primer, stick a small strip of the sheet waterproof membrane to the primer, press down and rip off again. If more than 50% of the primer is pulled from the substrate, then the bond is still not adequate. Waterproofing with the sheet membrane must be carried out later. 3. Application: After removing the release paper from the KSKAbdichtungsbahn, bond, without folds or air pockets, to the correctly prepared, dry substrate and press down with force using a rubber roller or similar. Before installing to the main areas, apply a reinforcing strip, 20- - 30 cm wide of the KSK-Abdichtungsbahn to all edges, corners and chamfers. Install subsequent membrane with a minimum overlap of 5 cm. The membrane can also be butt-jointed dependent on
the project or structure. Bond over the butt-joints with KSK-Abdichtungsbahn-FB. Membrane joints are to be secured against de-lamination or moisture migration using rendering angles or covering strips. 4. Drainage and protection boards: Protect waterproof membranes against strong sunlight and mechanical damage through suitable protective measures or layers e.g. with a suitable protection and drainage board. When back-filling with cohesive earth, bond the protection and drainage board with COMBIDIC-2K. Protective layers must not exert any point or linear loading on the waterproof membrane. Dimpled sheets or corrugated protection boards are therefore not suitable. Draining should be to DIN 4095. Bond closed cell protection and drainage boards (perimeter insulation) with COMBIDIC-2K. Back-filling the building pit: Back-filling the building pit must be carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines. The back-fill material should be placed and compacted in layers. Ensure that the protection layer does not become damaged and that slippage is prevented. Advice: • Immediately prior to use, store the self adhesive waterproof sheet membrane at room temperature, approx. +20 °C and only apply in dry weather conditions. • Do not store the material in direct sunlight. • Do not apply to damp substrates. •N egative water pressure cannot be accommodated by bitumen waterproof materials. In areas where this is expected, waterproof beforehand with AQUAFIN-1K. •D o not bond or cover the self adhesive waterproof sheet membrane with products containing solvents.
