Technical data sheet SANIFIN-EKB Preparing the surface 1. Check the substrate and determine the residual moisture content using the CM method. 2. Remove impurities, adhesion-reducing substances and binder accumulations/laitance layers. 3. Prime absorbent substrates with ASO-Unigrund-GE, ASO-Unigrund-K or ASO-Unigrund-PLUS. 4. Clean non-absorbent substrates and prime with ASO-Unigrund-S or ASO-Unigrund-PLUS. 5. Level surface irregularities in the substrate before starting laying a cementitious levelling compound that is suitable for the application (e.g. SOLOCRET-60 / SOLOPLAN-30-PLUS).
Application Application as bonded waterproofing 1. Prepare the substrate according to the substrate requirements. 2. Cut SANIFIN-EKB to the appropriate size. 3. Apply SCHOMBURG tile adhesive to the substrate using a notched trowel (6 mm). 4. Place the strip with the red side facing up into the still wet adhesive bed. 5. SANIFIN-EKB Position butt joints next to each other and avoid cross joints. In exterior area, lay the SANIFIN-EKB with a joint width of approx. 5 mm. 6. Press the strip into the adhesive bed using a flat trowel or roller so that there are no voids and no wrinkles. Ensure that the bedding and crosslinking covers the whole area from the fleece to the adhesive. 7. Seal and fill butt joints on intersecting sheets, rising components (e.g. walls) and intersections with joint sealing tape and waterproofing material. (Technical data > System components in accordance with abP AiV) 8. Tiles and boards can be laid as soon as the SCHOMBURG tile adhesive / waterproofing material is walkable according to the relevant technical datasheet.
Set-up as de-coupling membrane 1. Prepare the substrate according to the substrate requirements. 2. Cut SANIFIN-EKB to size. 3. Apply SCHOMBURG tile adhesive to the substrate using a notched trowel (6 mm). 4. Place the strip with the red side facing up into the still wet adhesive bed. 5. Position SANIFIN-EKB butt joints next to each other and avoid cross joints. In exterior area, lay the SANIFIN-EKB with a joint width of approx. 5 mm. 6. Press the strip into the adhesive bed using a flat trowel or roller so that there are no voids and no wrinkles. Ensure that the bedding and crosslinking covers the whole area from the fleece to the adhesive. 7. Before laying the tiles, cover the joints with 20 mm wide adhesive tape. 8. Tiles and boards can be laid as soon as the SCHOMBURG tile adhesive / waterproofing material is walkable according to the relevant technical datasheet.
Notes Installation on ‘green’ concrete substrates can take place at the earliest 3 months after their completion. Installation on ‘green’ heated and unheated cement-based screeds can be carried out as soon as they are walkable. Installation can be carried out on ‘green’ calcium sulphate screeds up to a residual moisture content of max. 1.2 CM-% in combination with the primer ASO-Unigrund-PLUS and the tile adhesive MONOFLEX-S2. When laying on ‘green’ heated substrates, the functional and ready-to-cover heating must be carried out in accordance with the heating protocol for ceramic coverings on ‘green’ cement and calcium sulphate screeds with SANIFIN-EKB. Laying on ‘green’ substrates represents a special structure. Planar substrates such as wooden beam constructions must be firmly screwed. Direct contact with metals such as copper, zinc, and aluminium must be avoided by means of a pore sealed primer. A pore-sealed primer is produced via 2 application steps using ASODUR-GBM (see technical data sheet). Border, field and movement joints should be carried over to the designated location; suitable means such as RD-SK50 edging strips should be used to detach them! Crack control joints must be closed with a force fit or secured against height differences. Observe the technical data sheets of the products mentioned and the laying instructions from the surface coating’s manufacturer! Protect surfaces that are not to be treated from the effects of the system adhesive or the bonded waterproof systems! SANIFIN-EKB may not be glued or overcoated afterwards with products containing solvents.

Technical data sheet SANIFIN-EKB Relevant regulations Planning, inspection of substrates and building site circumstances, laying, grouting and subsequent care of the work must be done in accordance with the relevant DIN standards and recognised rules of technology (e.g. the ZDB Data sheets of the Zentralverband Deutsches Baugewerbe e.V.(German construction Association) in the latest version.
