Technical data sheet ASO®-DM Preparing the substrate Measures for substrate preparation 1. The substrate must be able to bear the loads expected to be concentrated at points and across surfaces. 2. Watertight substrates must be checked for their load-bearing capacity, gradient (min. 1.5%) and readiness for covering and provided with a waterproofing layer according to DIN 18531. 3. Substrates, such as base courses made of gravel, must be sufficiently compacted and water permeable. 4. Substrates must be sufficiently level.
Preparing the surface 1. Watertight substrates such as concrete are provided with a waterproofing layer of AQUAFIN-RS300 in accordance with the specifications in the technical data sheet. 2. Create a separating layer to the watertight and bonded base courses. Joints should overlap by at least 10 cm. 3. Create base layers such as compacted gravel with a water-resistant, rot-proof, alkali-resistant and drainage-capable geotextile fleece. Joints should overlap by at least 10 cm. 4. Installation of 10 mm thick PE edging strips on rising building components such as facades, walls, connecting stones and slabs.
Application Mixing drainage mortar 1. Pour the water into a clean mixing bucket and mix with the powder component to form a lump-free mortar. 2. In between, scrape the unmixed material from the side walls with a trowel and feed it to the mixing process. 3. The mixing time is ca. 2 - 3 minutes. 4. Alternatively, use a free-fall mixer, forced paddle mixer, continuous mixer or screed machine.
Application 1. Distribute and compact the drainage mortar onto the prepared substrate. 2. Apply drainage mortar evenly and at a gradient of at least 1.5%. 3. Limit field sizes to a maximum field length of 6 m using bay sizing joints. Compact field sizes with a ratio of 2:3 are desirable. 4. Apply MONOFLEX, MONOFLEX-XL or UNIFIX-S3 to the back of slabs using an 8-10 mm notched trowel and lay them on the still fresh drainage mortar. 5. Alternatively, after approximately 24 hours, tile and slab coverings can be laid on the hardened drainage mortar using the buttering method with MONOFLEX, MONOFLEX-XL or UNIFIX-S3. 6. Create the joints between the tiles with a minimum joint width of 3 mm and, after the tile adhesive has become ready for grouting, seal them with a drainage-capable CRISTALLFUGE-DF or CRISTALLFUGE-HF cement-based sealant.
Cleaning tools Rinse tools with water immediately after use.
Storage conditions Storage Store in a cool and dry place. Min. 12 months in the original canister. Promptly use opened container.

Technical data sheet ASO®-DM Notes All values given in the TM apply at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Observe the technical data sheets of the products mentioned before starting work. Do not add any other cement or binder! Low temperatures, high humidity and heavy layer thicknesses delay hardening, drying and extend the time until ready to receive tiles. (Also see the BEB data sheet “Building climate preconditions for drying screeds”). Tests showed that the crystalline binding of the water is slower at low temperatures (+5 to +10°C), meaning that the screed was only ready to receive tiles after a longer period of time! Protect the screed from draughts, rain, etc. Border, field, building separation and movement joints should be carried over to or installed at the designated location; suitable means (e.g. edge strips) should be used to detach them! Crack control joints should be cut in up to a third of the introduced layer thickness! The installation location must be ventilated. However, draughts and direct solar radiation should be avoided during application and the hardening process. The indoor temperature and floor temperature must be at least +5°C during application, and during the following week! Air dehumidifiers may not be used during the first 3 days! If moisture rises from the substrate, effective waterproofing is essential prior to laying the screed! This does not apply in conjunction with coatings in the drainage mortar on an unbound cementitious base layer. When laying on a bonded base layer (e.g. concrete) or waterproofing, the substrate must be created with adequate falls and be level to prevent waterlogging.
Relevant regulations Planning, inspection of substrates and building site circumstances, laying, grouting and subsequent care of the work must be done in accordance with the relevant DIN standards and recognised rules of technology (e.g. the ZDB Data sheets of the Zentralverband Deutsches Baugewerbe e.V.(German construction Association) in the latest version.
