Technical data sheet THERMOPAL®-WSP-120 Preparing the surface 1. Remove old, damaged plasters, paints or coatings from the substrate up to 80 cm above the visible damaged area or the area delimited through inspections. The substrate must be prepared so that it is load-bearing. 2. Highly absorbent, chalky or sandy substrates should be primed with AQUAFIN primer. 3. Pre-treat it with ESCO-FLUAT in case of high salt content. Apply a semi-covering splatterdash coat of THERMOPAL-SP as a bond coat (degree of coverage approx. 50%). 4. In conjunction with mineral waterproofing slurries such as AQUAFIN-1K or AQUAFIN-RB400, apply the adhesive splatterdash coat over the whole area with 100% coverage. 5. When using barrier plasters such as ASOCRET-M30, comb the surface horizontally with an 8 mm notched trowel.
Application Mixing 1. Pour the required quantity of water into a clean mixing bucket. 2. Completely add the powder and mix until homogeneous and free from lumps. 3. The mixing time is ca. 3 minutes. 4. After a short activation time, stir again.
Application 1. THERMOPAL®-WSP-120 can be applied in a single application step up to 40 mm Layer thickness applied on the surface. 2. For thicker layers, render in several layers. 3. In this case, strike off the previous layer with a plasterer’s darby and roughen up horizontally. The second layer can be applied directly the following day. 4. Striking off is done with a suitable tool (float, trowel or plasterer’s darby), depending on the application, within the pot life. 5. After sufficient standing time, remove ridges and unevenness using a trowel back or grid float. Alternatively, the surface can be felted or rubbed down to a matt damp finish. 6. THERMOPAL®-WSP-120 should always be overcoated with THERMOPAL-FS33 fine plaster.
Fine plaster 1. THERMOPAL®-WSP-120 may only be reworked after sufficient air drying. 2. Depending on the weather and application thickness, this is achieved after 14-20 days (drying time approx. 2 days per cm of insulating plaster). 3. Damp substrates extend the standing time to at least 4 weeks. 4. After drying, prime the plaster surface with AQUAFIN® primer. 5. Then, rework the plaster surface with the THERMOPAL®-FS33 fine filler in two application steps.
Storage conditions Storage Store in a frost-free, cool and dry place. 12 months in the original canister. Promptly use opened container.
Disposal Product residues can be disposed of in accordance with disposal code AVV 17 01 01.
Notes Protect surfaces that are not to be treated from the effects of THERMOPAL®-WSP-120! Very damp substrates may require longer waiting times before they can be rubbed off. With low strength substrates, a corrosion-resistant plaster base must be attached mechanically to the substrate prior to plastering. (Cannot be used with internal waterproofing). Under difficult site conditions (e.g. inhomogeneous masonry work, waterproofed masonry work, use in exterior area under changing weather conditions and thick-layer plaster build-ups, etc.), an alkali-resistant glass scrim such as ASO®-RSG can be used to increase the cracking resistance. The inlay of the plastering fabric is applied in the upper third of the plaster layer. Rubbing prematurely or too intensively causes a binder concentration on the surface and can cause stress cracks. Protect from strong solar radiation and draughts. Highly vapour permeable dispersion silicate paints must be used for the colour design.
